It did not take long for Dorian Boccolacci to add a new success to his already long 2013 list of achievements during the second round of the WSK Master Series held at Sarno. Perhaps a slightly better set-up for his kart, to enable him to fully express his potential, would have been enough, just a detail considering his excellent final result. But again performances shown by this young driver were brilliant, in a hard fought competition where he succeed in keeping the leadership of the Championship.
Timed qualifying, SuperPole, three qualifying heats, intermediate classification and fastest lap time for three times in the race: there were quite a few positive results during the Neapolitan weekend, which saw Dorian monopolise top places. But competition is tough in international karting and his Energy/TM lost a bit of its supremacy during Sunday’s pre-final. 3rd at that point, he continued to battle to conquer a victory in the final race.
Supported by all his Energy Corse team, Dorian could rely on a great kart to accomplish his mission. Indeed, he set the fastest time in the race on the 11th lap (out of 15), but Karol Basz had already a 0.8 second lead, too much to catch him. But the young French driver managed to close in on the second, Martin Kodric, and passed him brilliantly on the last lap with a textbook braking manoeuvre, showing a stunning mix of talent and grit.
His half smile on the second step of the podium revealed his satisfaction for a nice job and for taking the leadership of the championship. Good job Dorian!
