Again, the smart drivers in KZ2 waited until the last minute, or nearly so, to launch an assault on qualifying for the WSK Master Series at Sarno. Less than 2 minutes from the checkered flag, the fastest time so far was a 1’04”. The battle was tight between Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) and Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM). The Dutch driver took pole position in his first appearance at his new team with a lap of 1’03” 625 which was 34/100 ahead of the British driver. Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) took third place, just ahead of Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 4th, and 5th Marco Ardigo. Rick Dreezen took sixth to complete the Tony Kart / Vortex team. Charles Leclerc (ART GP / TM) was seventh ahead of Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM), Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) 9th and Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE) 10th. Jaime Alguersuari (Intrepid / TM) was 18th, Yannick Savard (Birel / Parilla) 29th.
