Hofer had a problem on the dummy grid waiting for the start of the race 2 of the Academy Award and Russell like De Vries in previous races couldn’t start … He tried to repair his machine on his own, shaking the frame in all directions, but in vain, and the race started without him. He managed to start several seconds after the bunch. Alex Gill didn’t need to be asked to take the opportunity to lead the race ahead of Javier Cobian, Joonas Lappaleinen, Mattia Drudi and Adeline Prudent. Lappaleinen took 2nd, Prudent took 4th, Amaury Bonduel 6th, Besancenez 10th. We watched Lappaleinen close up on the leader Gill, nibbling into his lead with hundredths of blows, while the threat of Bonduel and Prudent was behind Besancenez in 7th position.
Gill monitored the situation and set a best lap 0.6” in front of Lappaleinen, Cobian was well insulated in the third position. Adeline Prudent yielded to the joint attack of Bonduel and Ellegard. Gill easily won the race ahead of Lappaleinen and Cobian, who overtook the fourth Ellegard and Bonduel 5th, Prudent 6th. Russell ranked 19th courageously.
