The Spanish driver had been hoping for a podium since the beginning of the season, after showing some very convincing performances. In the rain of Sarno, he finally conquered a victory at the WSK Euro Series, with just a few days to go until the inauguration of the European KF3 Championship. In KZ1, Jonathan Thonon came very close to a double podium displaying excellent speed.
But the first WSK Euro Series round held at Sarno was marked by very difficult weather conditions with heavy rain downpours, while the CRG team was decimated by an intoxication that affected several drivers and mechanics. Luckily Palou was spared and he managed to achieve his best score in KF3 so far, only missing out on the SuperPole: 1st in timed qualifying, 1st after the qualifications, 1st in the pre-final and 1st in the final in addition to his best laps during the race. There is now a perfect synergy between the young Spaniard and his CRG chassis powered by a BMB engine prepared by KVS. The Canadian driver Zachary Claman De Melo took full advantage of the top performances of his new kart to gain 8 places in the final and concluded with a promising 9th place.
Jonathan Thonon, who was CRG best performing driver in KZ1, showed that the work done by the team and by his engine mechanic is bearing fruits by conquering a third place already on Saturday and starting as the main favourite the following day, thanks to his two victories in a row in the heats. Unfortunately, the Belgian was slowed down on the first lap in Final 2, climbed up from 5th to 3rd place on the finish line, but was relegated to 4th place after a race mishap.
