The third and final round of the WSK Master Series 2012 started this afternoon with the decisive Qualifying phase for the five classes and 191 drivers racing. The polemen are Verstappen in KF2, Corberi in KF3, Lennox-Lamb in KZ2, Pex in KZ1 and Lorandi in 60 Mini.
Max Verstappen (Intrepid / TM) set the reference time with 47.646s in KF2, well ahead of the two Kosmic / Vortex of Paolo Ippolito on 47.749s and Niklas Nielsen by 47.840s. The differences were then tighter until the eighth place of Felice Tiene (CRG / BMB) and the ninth of Karol Basz (Birel / BMB), who has joined the factory team. The 12th and 13th positions, Dennis Olsen (Energy / TM) and Tom Joyner (LH / BMB), were 3/10 off pole.
Already present in KF2, in KF3 Kosmic took pole with Luca Corberi in 48.353s from Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex) by 2/100 and Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) a little over a tenth further. Although the three groups didn’t have large differences in performance, there were often significant differences between drivers from the same team. Thus, Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla) was ranked 16th, Robert Schwarzmann (Intrepid / TM) in 5th ahead of his teammates Dorian Boccolacci and George Russell 26th and 21st.
