The dominance of Callum Ilott, on a Zanardi / Parilla at Chiesa Corse, during the first phase of the WSK Master Series at La Conca inevitably recalls Nyck De Vries, as noted by many in the paddock. The leader during qualifying, Ilott won all his heats in an indisputable manner, often with a comfortable lead. He is on pole for Sunday’s prefinal one, and in an excellent position for the finals.
George Russell (Intrepid / TM) is ranked second and on pole position in the pre-2, Dorian Boccolacci (Intrepid / TM) is third and on the front row alongside Ilott, Luca Corberi (Kosmic / Vortex) is 4th and on the front row of the pre 2 and so on for the other drivers. The Spaniard Alex Palou (CRG / BMB) is in a great fifth place overall, with the excellent Swedish driver Felix Nilsson (Energy / TM). In 7th Dan Ticktum (Zanardi / Parilla) made a strong showing at the highest level against more experienced drivers like Robin Hanson (Tony Kart / Vortex).
Among the French, Dorian Boccolacci competed in a superb battle in the last heat for the win despite a lack of power so is still close to the top of the table, in third place for Sunday’s races. Valentin Naud (Formula K / TM) has improved steadily to move into the top 10 in the heats and is in 24th in the intermediate classification. Bryan Elpitya (Zanardi / Parilla) adjusted well and collected 28 points. He is positioned in 31st place with a good chance to race in the final. This will be more difficult to achieve for Julien Darras (Intrepid / TM) although he put in a much improved performance.
The new format KF3 event with two prefinals presages a good show on Sunday, with another heat and the draft. There will be plenty to lose the for the top-ranked and much to gain for the others …
