Taylor International Motorsports’ Lead Driver Henry Easthope last week inked a deal that sees him drive for the Official Sodi Factory Race Team in 2012, a huge achievement for Henry as the first British Driver in the French Sodi Factory Team. Gildas Merrian, President of Sodikart was so impressed by his performances at the 2011 U18 World Championships that he offered him a deal last November, the details of which were finalised at the Sodi HQ in Nantes on Friday.
It will be a full calendar of racing for Henry: as well as Euromax rounds in Genk, Wackersdorf, Kristianstad and Salbris, it will include the 2012 U18 World Championships with rounds to be held at Braga, Angerville and in Bahrain, the Rotax International Open (venue to be announced) and the Supernationals in Vegas whilst also continuing to honour his UK Team racing commitments.
For the past two years, Sodi have supplied the chassis for the Rotax World Finals in two categories so it was a logical progression for the company to move away from KF and concentrate their efforts on Rotax and the Euromax Series. Henry who will be partnered by another, as yet to be announced, driver will race in the Senior Max category under the auspices of Sodi Race Team Manager Nicola de Cola and Consultant Anthony Abbasse.
The teenager from Weybridge is delighted to be offered a place in the Official Sodi Factory Race Team and, keen to prove his worth, hit the ground running with a win at Whilton Mill at the weekend against many of his forthcoming Euromax opponents using the new 2012 Sodi Celesta chassis.
