At the 2012 Winter Cup, Jonathan Thonon fought again for leadership in KZ2, behind the wheel of his new CRG chassis powered by a Maxter engine. He even won a difficult pre-final, on a track where grip was limited, though he could not repeat his great performance in the final race due to a slightly early start. His CRG Racing Team mates were also there, fighting at the front: Davide Forè was in the top 3 before an unfortunate contact at the start of the pre-final and Mirko Torsellini was in the top 5, ranking 3rd in the pre-final and 4th in the final. Fabian Federer pushed hard to regain ground in the pre-final and set the fastest lap time.
In KF2, Felice Tiene and Jordon Lennox-Lamb kept progressing throughout the weekend. The Italian conquered a second place in a heat and the fastest lap time in the race, then carved his way up to 7th in the final.
A new CRG Racing Team recruit, the Spaniard Alex Palou pulled off an incredible feat, from a distant 83rd place in timed qualifying. First he regained a lot of ground in the heats and then he won the repechage. 28th on the grid in the pre-final, he concluded the Winter Cup with a 12th place, meaning a 71-place improvement during the weekend!
