WSK Master Champion in 2010 in KZ2, this year Beitske Visser will go for a title in the top category, KZ1. Though mechanical differences between the two categories are minor, a high-performance kart is anyway essential to rival with the best drivers in KZ1. Beitske’s Intrepid chassis with Praga colours handles the road very well, this is the least that can be said about it, but the young Dutch driver would have appreciated a swifter mechanical response to get a bit closer to the podium at the Championship opening round in La Conca.
The 2011 version of Beitske is a lot different from the young reserved girl who was trying to find her place in the sun of KZ2 last year. Now that she is aware of her talent, Beitske is a more relaxed, more smiling and more serene person. And when she comments her Italian meeting – her first meeting in KZ1 – she is even philosophical about: «I had my card to play at each start and I did my best every time, while trying to avoid a collision. Then I knew I could not go after the leaders all the time, so I did my race on the lookout for the slightest chance to gain a place. Despite it all, my equipment performance improved throughout the weekend and I could enter the top 5 in the second final on Sunday».
After this instructive season debut, Beitske will certainly have other strong points to compete against the 125cc gearbox elite already at next event, the WSK Euro Series in Sarno at mid-March, on a fast track she likes.
