Upon reflection, the race director decided to return the KZ2 to the track to play their final of 28 laps. It must be said that the rainfall was less serious. The start took place under the “Slow” signs to reduce the risk, and a portion of the track after the pool was under yellow flags throughout the race.
Abbasse, Nato, Lammers, Iglesias, were at the front of the still damp KZ2 final. Norman Nato (CRG / Maxter) moved into first on lap 3 ahead of Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM) and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / Maxter). Nato lapped in 56”016 and improved at every corner. He increased his lead over Lammers, to 1.8”, which was closely followed by Abbasse who was now faster.
Paolo De Conto (Energy / TM) was in fourth position ahead of Oliver Rowland (CRG / Maxter), Patrik Hajek (Tony Kart / Vortex), Jérémy Iglesias (Intrepid / TM) and Thomas Mich (Birel / TM). Abbasse took second place on the eighth of 28 laps of the race, De Conto took Lammers on the following lap. Abbasse seemed to have the equipment to return to Nato in the current circumstances, but the CRG driver reacted and improved by 5 tenths to second. On the next lap, the reverse, Abbasse set the best time and again took 6 / 10 out of the lead. In short, we could not say what would happen to the lead.
At the halfway point, Nato led by about 1 second ahead of Abbasse, De Conto, Hajek, Lammers, Rowland and Iglesias. Each in turn went fastest, then calmed the game the on the following lap. The differences grew between the other competitors. Viktor Öberg (Gillard / Parilla) closed on Iglesias for 7th position. On lap 20, De Conto seized his chance and took Abbasse. This time, Nato may well be worried by the Italian. Öberg dropped to 20th position, Lukas Trettenbrein (Jesolo / TM) reappeared in 7th place ahead of Dylan Davies (PCR / TM) and Pierre Ragues (Sodi / TM).
At the start of the final lap, Norman Nato was 5 / 10 ahead of De Conto and it was more than enough to win the Monaco Kart Cup 2010, run in extraordinary conditions. Paolo De Conto and Anthony Abbasse made up the final podium. Hajek was 4th, Rowland 5th, Lammers 6th, Trettenbrein 7th, Ragues 8th, Davies 9th and Iglesias 10th.
