The qualifying heats for the European KF2 Championship were completed on Saturday night at Genk where the heat was still stifling. Finland’s Teemu Suninen (Maranello / Maranello) won twice and finished third, so he is the leader of the day. There was a tight battle for second place, to make up the front row for the prefinal on Sunday: Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) and Nicolaj Moller-Madsen (Energy / TM) were on equal points and wins, but the Belgian took advantage of his pole in qualifying to take second place. Michelle Gatting (CRG / Maxter) was at ease in all the battles, and finished fourth equal with the amazing Thomas Jager (Birel / BMB).
Sixth in the standings, Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) lost his advantage in the final heat with 8th place. In 14th, Karol Basz (RK / BMB) paid dearly for his retirement in the third heat. In 19th, Bluy Clement (Tony Kart / Vortex) is the first and only French driver to qualify.
Among the non-qualifiers for the finals, there are some names known for their speed: Jordan King, Sami Luka, Jacob Nortoft, Loic Réguillon, Jesper Rossler, Marvin Kirchhofer (qualifier winner at Wackersdorf), Vincent Fraïsse, Jordon Lennox- Lamb, Alex Baron, Kevin Munkholm, …
