Born from Piero Cavaciuti’s will and engine expertise, PCR is one of these makes which have written the history of Karting.
PCR (for Piero Cavaciuti Racing) started by using 2-stroke engines dedicated to competition Karting. After having worked to the development and tuning of engines of the make BM, Piero Cavaciuti decided to stand on his own two feet in 1974. It was only eleven years later that PCR also undertook to manufacture its own chassis. While a Manufacturer mastering the building and selling of his own chassis and engines is now a wides- pread practice, PCR’s undertaking in the middle of the 1980’s, was rather unusual if not pioneering. This being said, the risky gamble was won two years later when PCR managed to land the World Championship at Jesolo (Italy) with its official Driver Gianpiero Simoni! PCR’s destiny was subsequently taken over by the sons of Piero Cavaciuti.
Amongst the notorious Drivers who were part of the team – and who have remained remarkably faithful to it – there were the former Formula One Driver Giancarlo Fisichella, the Finn Tom Vilander (now very present in GT), and, of course, the Dane Gert Munkholm, World Champion with PCR in 1989 at Valence (France).
Yesterday’s PCR has however gone and has now been replaced by the “Scuderia PCR”, under the direction of Cesare Speranza, already known on the Karting scene as being the owner of the circuit “Kart Planet” of Busca, near Cuneo, in the north of Italy. The activities of the make are now exclusively focused on chassis.
Drivers enterred in the CIK-FIA U18 World Championship with PCR: Adrian Del Rio (Sp); Alessio Mordini (It).
