There was a big fuss at the start of the KF2 final. Nortoft and Basz took the lead positions, but Gatting went off causing a pileup. Réguillon took 3rd, followed by D’Agosto, Kanamaru and Moller-Madsen. The Swede attacked the two Tony Karts and found himself fourth. In addition to Gatting, Lock, Bluy and Gilbert were out and King and Barrabeig were held up; other drivers lost a lot of places.
Basz lost ground, so second position went to Réguillon and Moller-Madsen took 3rd. Kanamaru fell back behind the 12th placed Luka, Fraïsse and De Ridder who took advantage of the stormy start to move up. Réguillon took the lead on lap 7, while D’Agosto was now fourth from Basz, Varley and Butcher. On the 10th of 19 laps of the race, Nortoft took the lead, followed by Moller-Madsen and D’Agosto. Réguillon lost more ground and tried to protect his fifth place against Varley.
The gaps widened slightly, enough so that the positions are frozen for the moment. D’Agosto was slowly moving towards the second position of Moller-Madsen. He succeeded in passing ion lap 15, and Basz seized the opportunity to grab 3rd. There was fighting between Réguillon and Moller-Madsen for 4th. The Energy driver closed the door at the approach to the finish.
There was a deserved victory for Nortoft, and nice work on the part of D’Agosto and Moller-Madsen. It is regrettable that many talented drivers have been eliminated at the start …
