Good weather has settled over the region of Genk since this morning. Cumulus clouds have begun to sprout in the sky but are not worrying at the start of the KF2 Pre-final.Instead what worries the drivers is the start of the first lap, especially the double straight braking …
It’s heated, but ok for almost everybody, except Lennox-Lamb, who went off, as well as Butcher, Lefort and Suarez. Karol Basz led the race ahead of Nortoft, the pole sitter, Clement Bluy and Mitchell Gilbert. Gatting moved up from 8th position. Nortoft took the lead on lap 3. Behind Bluy, Kanamaru was back to 4th and Gatting 5th. D’Agosto was in 11th. Kanamaru attempted to attack the French driver, but Gatting settled it by moving to 3rd.
Nortoft led still, but Basz and Gatting were only 3 / 10 off. Kanamaru now threatened Gatting who had just lost a little ground. The differences were significant enough. Guillaume De Ridder retired as did Barrabeig earlier. Second place was far from assured for Basz. On the 11th of 15 laps, Gatting took it. Bluy fell behind in 8th to Loïc Réguillon. D’Agosto climbed to 9th, ahead of King, Varley and Fraïsse, who had performed a great recovery from 30th.
Victory without hitches went to Nortoft ahead of Gatting and Basz. Kanamaru resisted Klinkby-Silver, who set the fastest lap in 5th place. Lock was 6th, Réguillon 7th then D’Agosto, Bluy and Varley. Moller-Madsen improved his day a lot with 14th place.
