This strange image of snow does not reflect the weather conditions currently prevailing in the region of Pavia, where the 21st Margutti Trophy is being held. We are being told that the climate is changing … Two weeks back, plenty of snow covered the 7 Lakes and some still remains. Temperatures are mild now, but rain is scheduled for Saturday afternoon and all day on Sunday. After being completely dry this week, many teams are furious at not having been able to test on a wet track, while glimmers of hope shine in the eyes of others. That’s what we call racing!
Most of the registered drivers have gone out on the circuit and over 200 competitors are in the paddock. The most notable absence is that of Sauro Cesetti in KZ2. Not that this has any relevance, Tec-Sav is powering 7 drivers in KZ2 and for the 1st time at a Margutti at Castelletto BRM and All Kart are here. There are a little less than last year’s record, it must be said that the 2009 race was two weeks before the WSK, which is not the case this year. However, it will give us the opportunity to discover new drivers, Italian or not, in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, although we may be under umbrellas.
Intrepid won the prize again for the most imposing awning, and Formula K is gradually taking its place in the paddock with a quality structure and with media coverage of the boss, Andrea Bertolini. It will be the 1st race of the season in KF2 for Switzerland’s Rafaele Marciello with this team. The young driver is also racing in cars with some success: his performance in a test in Formula Abarth recently saw him brought in to the Ferrari Drivers Academy with a long term contract.
