Although Birel scored a superb double in Super KF for the 1st race with the BMB engine, with Libor Toman the winner and Sauro Cesetti, the Winter Cup has long been uncertain thanks to the performance of Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter) the winner of the pre-final and not far from succeeding again in the finals before the battle turned in favor of the Birel team. As hot as usual, Yannick De Brabander (Intrepid / TM) has thrown things, running in 3rd position.
Toman won the Winter Cup ahead of his teammate Cesetti while Koko was third in the aggregation of 2 races. This short summary of facts does not however reflect the intensity of the battle in this class of superstars, who gave us an exceptional show.
In prefinal, Ardigo, Catt and Hanley led the race until Kozlinski took over. Catt had to give up with mechanical problems, Ardigo gradually lost ground without the means to fight back, De Brabander recovered from 14th to 3rd, Libor 15th to 5th …
For the final, Koko became a favorite, but De Brabander passed, immediately on the attack. The Birel Boys Cesetti and Toman joined in the fun and Ardigo saw the opportunity to go in to the race lead which led to a long battle down to fifth. The race should have been between Birel and Kozlinski, but De Brabander finally took 3rd position in front of Ardigo, Kozlinski, Maïsano who recovered well and Fore’.
