The tension rose another notch as the spectators came in large numbers, as we approached the start of the second Super Pro heat. The temperature was high and you could imagine in the summer. Bas Lammers led for a lap ahead of his teammates at Intrepid, Jérémy Iglesias and Norman Nato. A clash slowed some drivers in the pack: Gary Carlton, definitely not having the best of luck, found himself running across the 1st hairpin after the start. Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) lost some time, Pierre Ragues (Sodi / TM) and Sebastien Buemi (Intrepid / TM) started last.
Iglesias and Nato took advantage of Lammers who was also taken by Jonathan Thonon (CRG / Maxter). Davide Fore and Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter) took 5th and 6th place ahead of Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM), Tony Lavanant (Energy / TM) and Gary Catt (Tony Kart / Vortex). On the 4th lap, Thonon took second from Nato, Kozlinski (5th) and Abbasse (6th) who passed Fore. In last, Carlton manifested his anger against his bad luck.
Behind Iglesias, with the imperial background of Caesar’s Palace, the pressure increased under the helmets. Lammers closed on Nato and just tickled Thonon, then robbed him of second place for a while. Thonon braked hard to regain his position, and Kozlinski benefited to pass Lammers. Iglesias, Thonon, Lammers, Koko, Nato, Abbasse Fore, Catt, the lead of the race would not change until the finish. The tension rose between Lavanant and Ardigo. Michael Schumacher continues to fight like a great driver and he was still gaining positions to finish 14th.
