The sky was overcast again and all the KF3 drivers at Lyon kept their wet tyres for the pre-final. Pierre Gasly (Sodi / Parilla) took the lead at turn 1 from Hubert Anthoine (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Tanguy Carel (FA Kart / Vortex). Alex Baron (Tony Kart / Vortex) quickly moved into 4th position and Carel had already passed Gasly for 2nd.
Pascal Belmaaziz (Intrepid / TM) came back strongly, challenging Gasly and Baron to take 3rd place. Despite all his efforts to resist, Gasly regularly lost ground on board a machine that was clearly not set up well for the conditions. The race was led throughout by Carel, Hubert, Belmaaziz and Baron and the positions did not vary further. Hubert seemed threatened by Belmaaziz, and tried to pull away, but Belmaaziz finished on his bumper. Baron garnered a 4th place obtained with good manners, which was good for morale. Michael Heche finished 5th, Adrien Leidinger 6th, Gasly 7th and Remy Déguffroy 8th.
