The French were strong in this beautiful World Championship (WKC) pre-final in Macau. In the early laps, there were up to 4 among the top 5! The first was Manuel Renaudie (Gillard / Parilla) who was in the lead after the start, then Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter) passed him on the second lap. Meanwhile, Brandon Maisano (LH / Maxter) took 3rd place after a reasonable start. Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) occupied 4th position ahead of Aaro Vainio (Maranello / Maxter) and the 2 Kosmics of Bressan and Convers. But Bressan suffered an attack from Sauro Cesetti (Birel / Parilla) and had to retire already.
Maïsano closed on Renaudie while Kozlinski increased his lead. Brandon found an opening on the 9th lap: he was now second! Four drivers closed up and fought for the place; Maisano, Renaudie, Ardigo and Vainio. Also, Convers in 6th, still resisted Ben Hanley’s (Maranello / Maxter) recovery, but not for long. Vainio took Ardigo then Renaudie. Ardigo launched an attack on Renaudie but he fought back.
In the end, the top three did not change and the only surprise came from Hanley who made up two more positions before the checkered flag. Kozlinski won a masterful victory from the incredible Maïsano, Vainio in 3rd, 4th Hanley, Renaudie 5th, Ardigo 6th and Convers 7th.
Besides the French dominance, the Maxter engine took the first 4 positions. One can imagine how the final may turn out, but Marco Ardigo is not far off and Ben Hanley believes again.
