There were three parade laps before the start of the KZ1 Prefinal, which further raised the pressure under the helmet, while the temperature was already high on the circuit. There was an excellent start for Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex), but less successful were Norman Nato and Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM). Jérémy Iglesias (Intrepid / TM) took the lead on the first lap ahead of Lammers, Ardigo, Thonon (CRG / Maxter), Nato and Mich (Birel / TM). Alessandro Piccini (Intrepid / TM) then joined in the fight in 6th position ahead of Mich.
Knopper (PCR / TM) soon moved into 7th position, while Kozlinski was running 10th, Cesetti 12th and Fore 13th ahead of Renaudie. In the race lead, Iglesias had an impressive advantage over Ardigo, threatened by Thonon who signalled in vain. During the race, Ardigo emerged from the chasing pack to gradually gain on the leader. Thonon, Nato and Lammers were in a group. Mich took the advantage from Knopper, and overtook Foré who joined his team-mate Kozlinski who apparently failed to get to grips with his machine.
In the last laps it looked like Ardigo would be able to attack Iglesias, but the chequered flag dropped on the Franco-Spanish Intrepid driver, who had not had such a result for a long time. Thonon took 3rd position, Nato 4th, Lammers fifth ahead of Piccini, then Mich, Knopper, Kievitsbosch and Puhakka.
