The timed practice for the WSK at Genk (B) began on a dry track with good weather on Saturday morning. However, the rain stopped falling on Thursday night, and the very heavy rainfall of previous days has completely flushed the track of every deposit of rubber. Despite the wide track at Genk, there is only one line and that is where the rubber has been deposited again over the laps. This meant that it was hard to get a good gap and several laps were needed to find the grip. Not simple.
Lammers, Thonon and Nato were the three fastest in KZ2. Dreezen was 4th, Ardigo 5th and then by almost 2 tenths Kozlinski, Fore, Catt, Bressan and Jorrit Pex finished the top 10. The KZ2 field includes so many great drivers that we are accustomed to seeing some of them down the field. Renaudie and Convers were 11th and 12th, Iglesias was 18th, De Conto and Hawksworth 2nd2 and 23rd. Not in the picture, Mich peaked at only 33rd.
The times were much tighter in KF2, but Tiene continued his momentum in taking pole ahead of Maisano, Da Luz, Lock and Smarrazzo. The leader of the championship, Vigano was only 31st, 2 rows ahead of De Ridder.
In KF3, Kvyat was fastest, followed closely by Fioravanti, Sainz, Silva and De Vries. The gap was largest after 5th place with Hélias rising efficiently to 7th position ahead of Marciello, Menezes, Agostini and Susilo. Sendin was credited with the 20th fastest time, Jaminet 35th, Heche 45th and Tom Bianchi 55th.
