Finally an exciting race at Mariembourg! The KF3 final held the audience spellbound during the first 5 laps, but at the end of the race …
Pascal Belmaaziz started on pole ahead of Sébastien Bedoret who was immediately taken by Baron. A clash in the middle of the pack slowed Van Herentals, Makau and Carel. The first skirmish between Baron and Belmaaziz was on the second lap and benefited Bedoret who moved up a position to second place. Gasly was 4th, and passed out wide on the grass, which put him in 7th position. Jo Hélias passed Rémy Deguffroy to gain 4th place, but then lost ground.
After a second exchange of courtesies, Baron finally took the lead on lap 5. Belmaaziz was second and Bedoret 3rd. Enzo Guibbert fitted neatly in to 4th place. Then came Gasly, Deguffroy and Anthony Micoud. Baron was widening the gap, and Bedoret slowly closed on Belmaaziz. Adrien Leidinger passed Deguffroy and attempted an attack on Micoud. But he could not pass, and Nicolas Gonzalez tried to take advantage then the two drivers ended up in the gravel trap.
On the final lap, Bedoret attacked Belmaaziz, and Belmaaziz went into a spin, losing 5 places. Alex Baron won, his hands in the air, ahead of Bedoret, Guibbert, Gasly and Micoud!
