KF3 opened qualifying shortly before 4pm at Castelletto di Branduzzo. Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) immediately silenced his opponents by going more than 2 tenths ahead of the rapid Swiss Michael Heche (Intrepid / VKR), the Italian Raffaele Marciello (Intrepid / TM) and the Spanish Barrabeig (Intrepid / TM). Carlos Sainz (FA Kart / Vortex) was ahead of Danil Kvyat (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 6th place. There was bad luck for Jonathan Hélias who had to interrupt his session prematurely, after suffering an asthma attack, and finished with the 37th fastest time. Maxime Bourelly (Tony Kart / XTR) was 49th.
Matteo Viganò (Birel / Parilla) posted the best time in KF2 with 48”552, but Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) was not far away. Antonio Giovinazzi (Topkart / Parilla) finished up 3rd, 2 tenths from pole. Aaro Vainio (Maranello / Maxter) was only 7th. There was a big disappointment in the Action Intrepid France clan with the retirement of Brandon Maisano with engine failure after a few hundred meters. Hopefully the word of Saint Ludovic comes true: “As in the Bible, the last will be the first. “
There was a long duel between KZ2 drivers Massimo Aceto (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Manuel Renaudie (Gillard / SGM) which ended with the Italian driver gaining the edge by 6 milliseconds. In 3rd was Alessandro Manetti (AM / TM) who has quickly developed his new chassis. Three Energy Corse drivers followed, Paolo De Conto, Jack Hawksworth and Kenneth Ostvold. For Sodi was Anthony Abbasse, in 9th, on the TM, ahead of the SGM of Alban Varutti in 12th, and Eric Ramon in 16th.
