A blue sky and cottony white clouds, a lake dedicated to water sports, a large deck, a grandstand, these are the elements that attract initial attention on the first visit to Castelletto di Branduzzo near Pavia. The second surprise came from the simple and warm welcome from the organizers. It is not summer, but it looks like the spring, although we were greeted by near 0° temperature this morning and a few snowflakes.
The 20th Trofeo Internazionale Andrea Margutti is taking place at the Pista 7 Laghi, with 154 competitors (53 for KF2, 59 in KF3 and KZ2 in 42). If some factories didn’t follow the migration of the Margutti from Parma to Castelletto, the field still has a lot of international talent. The atmosphere in the paddock is very pleasant and relaxed, and different from that of international championships …
The 1256m track seems to satisfy the majority of drivers, who appreciate its technical aspects, the speed and amount of grip. “It’s a better Lonato!” commented a competitor. Perhaps it is a bit narrow in places for some. Timed practice ends this Friday, shortly before 6pm.
One question remains unresolved: where are the missing 6 lakes?
