Brandon Maisano (Intrepid / TM)’s superb victory was also a victory for the Action Team Intrepid France, who have long had a passion for international karting. Maisano wanted this win, and from the outset he distinguished himself from his opponents with a will which is a pleasure to see. His most dangerous rival, Matteo Vigano (Birel / Parilla) did not get the best start and ended up locked in 6th position. The Maranello / Maxter of Max Goff was the greatest threat to Brandon. But the gap was widened by the French driver on the British and remained throughout the 28 laps of the final, ending at 2,5’’.
While Vigano tried to come back, the battle was raging between D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex), Vittorio Ghirelli (Tony Kart / Vortex), Sami Luka (DR / Maxter) and Clemente Picariello (CRG / Maxter). Ghirelli lost speed and went backwards from the lap six. Instead, Ben Cooper (Tony Kart / Vortex) returned to the very top, after an average start behind Vigano. The Swiss driver Jimmy Antunes (Sodi / Parilla) confirmed his potential by fighting consistently in around 15th place. The second French qualifier, Paul-Loup Chatin (Tony Kart / Vortex) unfortunately lost ground a few laps from the end, a victim of the over-commitment of one of his opponents. After producing some spectacular duels, he had to settle for 28th position, just in line with his overall performance at Lonato.
At the finish line Vigano was in 3rd position ahead of Cooper and D’Agosto, while Picariello was ahead of Luka, followed by Michelle Gatting (Maddox / Parilla) had a good comeback. Lennox-Lamb (Topkart / Parilla) and Tiene (Kosmic / Vortex) also finished in the top 10.
