What a race! Matteo Beretta held the lead for two corners before Maisano took him on the hairpin by the pits. Maisano was now free to pull away. Guillaume De Ridder in fourth was very fast in the rain as might be expected. Nyck De Vries was currently second. De Ridder overhauled Heche and set his sights on De Vries, gaining at the rate of four or five tenths a lap.
The duel for the title took all of the attention. On lap three, De Ridder was right with De Vries and once past began to close on Maisano. The move was made on the ninth lap when De Ridder outbrakes Maisano at the pylon, and only De Ridder knew how it succeeded. Maisano did nothing rash, knowing that he had to finish second to De Ridder to win the title. De Ridder slowed the pace down because he knew that if De Vries could come back it might be good for him. Maisano took first back on lap ten but it was short-lived. De Vries was by now almost in contact with the leaders. Maisano tried again to take De Ridder and succeeded on the 13th lap. Again De Ridder replied. An attack from De Vries was feared but Maisano retained his second position on the line.
The exciting race saw the Belgian De Ridder take the chequered flag but Maisano the title of French Champion of 2008. De Vries was third, Beretta fourth and Belmaaziz fifth.
