Ignazio D’Agosto made the best start, with Maisano managing to stay in his wake. Raffaele Marciello missed his braking point and lost many places. Michelle Gatting, often incisive at the start of the race, would not give way to Maisano. This didn’t please the officials, who gave her a ten-second penalty. Nyck De Vries started 16th and quickly got into tenth position. Jonathan Helias was 17th.
A few lengths behind Maisano, the battle raged between Kevin Ceccon, Gerard Barrabeig and Lorenzo Camplese and Carlos Gil soon joined the wild group. Gatting starting working on D’Agosto and eventually passed him with Maisano doing the same on the next lap. The FA Karts of Camplese and Barrabeig broke the Maranello of Ceccon.
Maisano took the lead in the race, Gatting ceded ground and Camplese was working hard in second. D’Agosto returned and passed Gatting for third place and the Prefinal winner was now chosen. De Vries had risen further to pass Rajala, but remained behind Ceccon for a few laps without being able to attempt an attack. Only on the last lap could he take sixth.
With the penalty Gatting went back from fifth to 15th position, the result of the KF3 Prefinal was Maisano first, Camplese second, D’Agosto third, followed by Barrabeig fourth, De Vries fifth, Ceccon sixth, Gil seventh, Coleselli eighth, Zimin ninth and Rajala tenth.
