After a successful early season, the young Finn Aaro Vainio (Maranello-Maxter) has emerged again on the international scene at exactly the right time. In the heats, Aaro had a full house with his 4 victories. He managed to resist the not-always-legal attacks from his opposition, and the rapid Dane Nicolaj Moller-Madsen was second in the intermediate. Ignazio D’Agosto was the second Tony Kart among the top 3.
The Belgian Clemente Picariello took a promising 5th position on his CRG-Maxter, David Da Luz remained in a fine 8th place after his excellent times yesterday. Brandon Maïsano was a little disappointing in 16th position. Brandon made a mistake which cost him dear, especially in the race conditions he encountered coming from 28th in timed qualifying. He found himself 2 places ahead of his opponent in the French Championship, the Belgian Guillaume De Ridder.
Unlike the last FFSA Karting Grand Prix at Varennes, Nyck De Vries was missing, unfortunately not qualified. Carlos Sainz managed to put it on the 23rd row, Eddy Cheever was 28th, Tanguy Carel was 30th and Mans Grenhagen 34th. Although he was very fast, Pascal Belmaaziz failed to qualify.
It should be noted that many penalties were given during these heats to punish over-aggressiveness on the track, and also clutch irregularities revealed by the new controls from the CIK.
