A positive balance in 2014
In its second year of collaboration with the CIK-FIA as a promoter of international Competitions, WSK Promotion has produced a positive outcome for the 2014 season.
What were the positives of 2014?
– First of all, the number of participants in CIK-FIA international Competitions proved satisfactory. In a still challenging environment, we have managed to attract convincing entries, in quantity and quality. The World Championships at Aunay Les Bois and Sarno were a great success, partly due to their concentrated format of a single Competition.Media coverage has also increased this year with the release of footage to a large international channel such as Motors TV. The KF and KF-Junior World Championships were shown later and KZ Sarno was broadcast live. The footage was produced by the WSK Promotion team and sent by satellite to Motors TV. The successful experience from 2014 will be enhanced next year.On the ground, the CIK-FIA officials and those from WSK Promotion worked in harmony and very efficiently.
What do you think of the regulatory changes introduced this year?
– The European Championships have had an increased number of Competitions, which is a good thing for the distribution of success to the best drivers. In the current situation, the single event World Championships are well suited. But in my opinion, if economic conditions permit, the World Championships should be disputed over a minimum of three Competitions in several countries. The format of the events has one less day, and it is not clear whether this is positive for every participant. Opinions may differ among the teams. Regarding the number and hardness of the tyres, I think the decision is good. Maybe we could change the rule for free practice, but overall it’s good.
How do you see the future?
– We started to chart a path two years ago. If everyone works in the same direction, we can offer high quality international Championships, attracting many drivers and a wide audience. I think we should try to promote the growth of entries while increasing the number of Competitions. The 2015 season has a pattern very similar to that of 2014 in terms of timing, but international karting will be on TV more frequently with Motors TV.
