The foreword of the President of the CIK-FIA, Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, is opening of the Best of 2015:
” The 2015 season ended with a positive balance and perspectives for the future. The CIK-FIA has collaborated with every stakeholder to restore the attraction to worldwide competition Karting that this exciting discipline deserves. With the implementation of projects that have been developed for several years, 2016 promises to be a major turning point in the history of Karting.
After the first steps to initiate a cost reduction, the sporting side of racing was improved in 2015 with the introduction of regulations limiting unsportsmanlike conduct on the track. The new front fairing fasteners have proved effective in producing a significant decrease in contact.
2016 will mark the beginning of a new era for the highly anticipated direct-drive engine karts. Launched in 2007, the KF engines will indeed be replaced by simpler units, which are lighter and cheaper, to which the name OK as in Original Karting, was given. There are great hopes for these new engines to boost attendance at events, both internationally and in national championships which need to again produce a pool of talent for the top level.
The three CIK-FIA World Championships, since 2014 run over one event, were a great success. The return of a world Competition to Le Mans was a highlight of 2015, particularly as the fight for the title lasted until the last metres of the Competition. Congratulations go to Jorrit Pex and his family and passionate team, for his deserved crown in KZ. On the beautiful Italian La Conca circuit, the experienced Karol Basz won the KF World Championship masterfully, while the young American Logan Sargeant won the title in KF-Junior. My congratulations also go to the two new Champions.
The organisation of the World Championship in Bahrain in 2016 is close to my heart and I thank the sporting authorities of that country for their efforts to facilitate a large number of participants at this unanimously appreciated circuit.
With the emergence of the OK and OK-Junior engines, Karting is about to face a challenge next season of the utmost importance for its future. All energies must unite for the success of a key and profitable project for all. ”
