Resounding victory for Marta Garcia Lopez
Selected for the second consecutive year by the FIA Women in Motor Sport Commission, the 14-year-old Spanish Driver Marta Garcia Lopez achieved very convincing results in 2015. Her career has now been launched with a solid foundation, thanks to her success in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
Michèle Mouton, the President of the FIA Women in Motor Sport Commission said: “Marta has achieved a great deal by winning the first two races of CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, especially given the number of young people participating in the series, all with the same equipment! She then won the trophy by ensuring a strong result at Le Mans in the last race. We are very proud of Marta!“
The FIA Women in Motor Sport Commission works in partnership with the CIK-FIA to encourage young women to engage in the sport at the local level. The success of Marta, the first female to win the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, is a very good example for all the girls who enter the Competition.
The emergence of Marta Garcia Lopez’s talent in 2015 also included significant results in KF-Junior, with 4th in the CIK-FIA European Championship and 13th in the CIK-FIA World Championship.
Marta’s future is in Italian or German Formula 4 in 2016 if she can raise the necessary budget. A season of OK is also possible if not. In any case, Marta remains a promising driver to watch as does the FIA Women in Motor Sport Commission.
