Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) made a fanstastic start in the second prefinal for the World Championship at Varennes. Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) retained his second position but Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) lost third to Davide Fore (CRG / TM). The French driver unfortunately dropped to eighth on lap 2. Sauro Cesetti (Top Kart / TM) was fourth ahead of Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE), Roberto Toninelli (Birel / TM) and Kozlinski (Birel / TM).
De Conto passed Verstappen on lap 3 while there was a warning flag for the young Dutchman. Fore attacked and regained third position, he returned to the leading duo. Strangely, Verstappen seemed able to overcome De Conto, but remained second wisely. Toninelli attacked Cesetti to gain 4th place. Dreezen moved up to seventh ahead of Kozlinski and Abbasse.
On lap 10, Verstappen returned to control the race and immediately put some lengths on De Conto, who was now the focus of Fore, one of the fastest on the track. But De Conto did not capitulate and held on for 2nd place. It was a relentless victory for Verstappen, who also set the fastest time of the race, ahead of De Conto and Fore, Toninelli was fourth, Cesetti fifth.
