The sky became very threatening, as KZ drivers prepared to race in their final of the European Championship. Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) was the favorite, even though Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) or Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) could attempt to block his path to victory, with serious contenders like Davide Fore (CRG / TM), Bas Lammers (Intrepid / TM), Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG / Parilla) on their heels. Pex once again got the better start, followed by Abbasse but Verstappen took second position before the end of the first lap. Lammers and Fore were hot behind the leaders. Lammers also overtook on the second lap. Verstappen was not intimidated, he led by almost a second ahead on the third lap after severe clashes.
Behind Lammers, in second, Ardigo passed for 3rd ahead of Abbasse, Fore, Michele Di Martino (Energy / TM) and Pex. There were now five drivers fighting for second place leaving Verstappen to quickly take off for a victory. Lammers had a small advantage, 0.3”, from Ardigo then Abbasse and Fore, and Pex returned to sixth after passing Di Martino. Roberto Toninelli (Birel / TM) was a beautiful 8th from Lennox-Lamb, Charles Leclerc (ART GP / TM) was already up to 15th after retiring in the prefinal. Pex was able to attack Fore to gain 5th place.
Lammers and Ardigo were well matched behind Verstappen who set fastest laps with the regularity of a metronome. Rain is getting nearer, but the Wackersdorf circuit was still dry. The duo of Toninelli and Lennox closed on the top group. Lennox-Lamb then passed Toninelli quickly close on Pex. He then attacked Fore. Ardigo seemed to slow behind Lammers, which Abbasse quickly took advantage of, motivated by the possibility of a place on the podium.
Meanwhile, Fore yielded to Lennox, but the fight between the three CRGs was not over, leaving Di Martino back in their wake with Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) in ninth position. With two laps to go, the top positions were set. Max Verstappen won a great victory by over 3 seconds ahead of Bas Lammers, Marco Ardigo inthird and Anthony Abbasse 4th. Lennox-Lamb was in fifth position ahead of Jorrit Pex, Michele Di Martino 7th, Davide Fore 8th, Patrik Hajek 9th and Roberto Toninelli 10th.
