Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) ran an intelligent race 4 to ensure his world crown in Macao. Cautious when necessary, he didn’t attack on many occcasions to finish off the podium, while his only potential adversary for the title, Daiki Sasaki (Kosmic / Vortex) ranked a modest 11th place, too far back to worry about.
Tom Joyner (LH / BMB) took the lead at the lights, closely followed by Felice Tiene (CRG / BMB), who did not take long to take the lead. Ben Hanley (ART GP / Parilla) was determined not to let the two men escape, Pedro Hiltbrand (FA Kart / Vortex) was on the pace, but ended up down in the standings. He had a good battle with the future Champion. Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) dropped back to the back of the field, Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG / BMB) gave up at halfway.
Camponeschi came back gradually, we thought he would be fighting for the podium, but this didn’t account for the meteoric rise of Karol Basz (Birel / BMB), starting from 9th. The Polish driver was flying in the wake of Hanley, while Joyner recovered the first position from Tiene. Basz was in third position for a few laps, Camponeschi battled in the final laps to successfully outrun Hanley. Joyner scored his fourth victory of the weekend ahead of Tiene and Basz, Camponeschi was 4th, Hanley 5th, Andy Chang Wing Chung (Tony Kart / Vortex) 6th, Davide Fore (CRG / BMB) 7th, eighth and fastest was Takeshi Kasai (Tony Kart / Vortex), 10th was Yasuo Iriawan (Kosmic / TM) who made a comeback from 24th position on the grid.
Camponeschi is KF1 World Champion of 2012 with 119 points to 103 points for Tom Joyner and Felice Tiene on 95 points.
