«We were hoping to get on the podium, but we did not expect to win a race!» Anton Van Grunsven can indeed be satisfied with the performance of his team, AVG Racings, at the first round of the WSK Master Series at La Conca, this weekend. Naturally it was number 1 driver Arnaud Kozlinski who brought home the laurels of victory in KZ1, but all the members of the team benefited from PCR/TM excellent state of form.
«We did not have time to do much development work with PCR after the Winter Cup. The real innovations will be adopted at next WSK Master meeting at Sarno. Nonetheless, set-up work was very positive and Koko’s talent did the rest». AVG Racing karts continued to improve performance during the weekend. Kozlinski and Puhakka showed a remarkable progression on Saturday: 9th and 10th in timed qualifying, 6th and 7th in the heats, then 3rd and 4th in Final 1. Just arrived from KZ2, Sinan Van Der Raad ranked 18th and 17th in KZ1.
On Sunday, Kozlinski gave his best shot already in the heats and concluded the day with his first victory in PCR, at the end of an extraordinary race. «We work a lot with PCR on our chassis», added the team manager, «but we also cooperate with TM. Franco Drudi supports us 100% by supplying us with really good engines. Arnaud has brought great energy to the team since this winter, both on the track and during development work. Simo has made a successful return to competition after several months of absence from circuits. In KZ2, Dylan Davies performed well on Saturday: he got on the third step of the podium in the final, but unfortunately had a collision on Sunday and broke his axle».
Next meeting will be at Sarno, for another WSK Master Series round, in less that two weeks’ time.
