The six Qualifying Heats of the first round of the 2011 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy have given their verdict and have designated the 28 Drivers authorised to participate in the final phase, which consists of two Races of 20 km each. Winner of two heats and 3rd in his last heat, Russia’s Vsevolog Gagen is taking advantage of his own experience of the material used in the Academy Trophy, since he took part in the competition last year already. He will start Race 1 from the pole-position and will be accompanied on row 1 by France’s Lucile Cypriano, the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission ambassador, who too won two of her three heats, but was penalised for having exceeded the maximum speed at one start.
Thanks to one heat win each, Spain’s Diego Rodriguez and Albania’s Aleksander Ndrio will share row 2, in front of a trio of French speaking drivers, led by Dorian Boccolacci, Monaco’s Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon.
