16/05/17 CPB Sport ignites the European KZ2 Championship
CPB Sport - European Championship - Genk

The long-awaited launch of the CIK-FIA European KZ2 Championship took place last weekend on Genk's formidable Belgian track. Thanks to the skills of the CPB Sport team and the quality of the Sodi chassis, the young drivers of Paul Bizalion's team were able to show their potential against a field of 61 drivers, bringing together the top specialists in the category. The superb 2nd place of Alex Irlando, the top five for Tom Leuillet and three Sodi in the top 10, were the highlights of this first very promising meeting.

Good performances were not lacking at Genk for the Sodi / TMs of CPB Sport. Both Alex Irlando and Tom Leuillet fought hard in the European top flight throughout the competition. Already placed 3rd and 4th in Qualifying, the two young drivers climbed to 2nd and 3rd places after intense heats. Irlando returned to 2nd place a few laps after the start of the Final and kept his rank until the finish to climb on to his first European podium. Leuillet, with great tenacity, recovered from a tough start and finished 5th. Meanwhile, Rokas Baciuska moved up eight places to finish 8th. Three Sodis in the top 10 of the race, and also in the provisional ranking of the Championship, is a result that speaks for itself.

The work by CPB Sport was also rewarded by the 15th place of Adrien Renaudin, despite being delayed by a crash in the last heat. A very encouraging performance for a newcomer in KZ2. Finally, Paul Fontaine put in the best performances of his young career and shortly missed qualification for the Final.

The close collaboration between CPB Sport and Sodikart is bearing fruit for the greater satisfaction of the increasingly numerous drivers at Paul Bizalion's team, predicting prospects of success in the near future.

In the European KZ Championship, Genk was the second event, and the factory Sodikart driver Anthony Abbasse had a very good weekend with an excellent Qualifying, solid heats and a 4th place in the Final which has given him a place in the ranking within a few points of the top three. The Belgian meeting proved more complicated for Bas Lammers.
