With Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) in pole position and Kobe Pauwels (BEL) in 3rd position just behind him on the Final grid, the fight for the FIA ??Karting Academy Trophy promises to be uncertain for this last race of the season. The weather is hot at Genk, despite the cloud cover.
The 34 young finalists started well, Pauwels managed to move up to 2nd position ahead of Guilherme A. De Figueiredo (BRA), with Craig Tanic (FRA) already 4th ahead of Joshua Rattican (GBR). Pauwels took 1st place on the 3rd of the 19 rounds of the Final. Starting 16th, Sami Meguetounif (FRA) quickly returned to the top 10 and set the fastest time of the moment.
Navalon returned to the leader before mid-race, De Figueiredo lost contact and found himself under threat from Rattican who was soon 3rd. Tanic then attacked the Brazilian to win 4th position.
Pauwels won the race in front of his home crowd and in front of his rival Navalon, who however won the Trophy by a point. Rattican took 3rd place against Tanic, De Figueiredo completed the top five and finished 3rd in the championship ahead of Meguetounif, 10th in the race.
