Douglas Lundberg (Alpha / Parilla) made the best start in Prefinal 1 in KZ2 at Genk. Andrea Dale (CRG / Maxter), was 3rd on the first lap but did not take long to regain control of the race, while Lundberg and Simas Juodvirisis (Energy / Maxter) made contact. Lundberg regained 8th. Matteo Zanchi took the opportunity to get away from the pack in second position ahead of Menno Paauwe (Birel / TM), Kristijan Habulin (TB Kart / Modena), Simone Brenna (TB Kart / Modena), Marijn Kremers (Birel / TM) and Joel Johansson (Righetti / Parilla). Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) moved into the top 10. Dale pulled away irretrievably in the lead. Zanchi retired with two laps to go. It was a clear and flawless victory for Dale, with Kremers 2nd, Lundberg returned to 4th in front of Paauwe, Habulin and Brenna. Paauwe was then penalized 10” for overtaking under a yellow flag, Di Silvestre also for misconduct and Charles Kenny excluded for cutting the track.
Andreas Hansen (Tony Kart / Vortex) took the lead of the prefinal ahead of Jan Midrla (Birel / TM), Ryan Van der Burgt (DR / TM) and Ricardo Romkema (Energy / TM). But he was then overtaken by Finn Kooijman (CRG / TM), Fabian Federer (CRG / Maxter) and Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart / Vortex). Midrla returned to the lead at halfway. The was a big fight for 17th position which is so important for qualification: Yohann Cresson (Tony Kart / Vortex) lost a few places but was still in 16th place, Charly Bizalion (Alpha / TM), long 18th moved up to 15th. Amaury Bonduel (ART GP / TM) started a long way back and attempted the impossible in 19th place. There was a battle for second position between Hansen and Van Der Burgt. Midrla won ahead of Hansen and Van Der Burgt. Kooijman finished 4th, Federer 5th, Piccini 6th, Di Martino 7th. Bizalion qualified in 14th position, Cresson 16th, but it didn’t happen for Bonduel in 18th. Pawel Myskier (Alpha / TM) set the fastest lap.
