The two Super Heats on the programme this Sunday morning in Sarno were the last selection phase of the FIA Karting World Championship – OK before the Final in the afternoon. The weather was fine in the Naples area with temperatures of around 23°.
Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) took the lead over Mattheus Morgatto (KR/Iame) on the second lap of Super Heat A. Challenged by Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) before he retired, but also by Maxim Rehm (LN/Vortex), Nakamura-Berta resisted Morgatto’s late comeback. Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame) managed to take 2nd place on the last lap and Morgatto had to settle for 3rd position. While Simone Bianco (CRG/Iame) regained nine places by finishing 4th, Luigi Coluccio’s (Tony Kart/Vortex) 12-place climb allowed him to enter the top five ahead of Rehm. Further back, Arthur Poulain (KR/Iame) had made up 14 places to finish 20th.
In Super Heat B, Zachary David (KR/Iame) and Oscar Pedersen (Tony Kart/Vortex) battled it out in the opening laps. Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the lead on the fourth lap and gradually pulled away to win by almost a second and a half from Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM). David secured 3rd place ahead of Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex) and Matheus Ferreira (Energy/TM). Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) had finished 5th on the line, but a penalty for causing an incident relegated him to 10th place. Pedersen had to settle for 6th position after a loss of five places.
Morgatto remained at the top of the ranking and took the pole position for the start of the Final together with Taponen. Pedersen and Nakamura-Berta shared the second row ahead of David and Lindblad.
