The Australian Hugh Barter took full advantage of his pole position to control the massive French F4 field at the start of Race 1 at Nogaro. Behind him, Elliott Vayron attacked Pierre-Alexandre Provost and quickly took the lead on the first lap. The two drivers were then under threat from Enzo Geraci, who managed to overtake Alessandro Giusti as soon as the lights went out.
Faster than the leader in the opening laps, the Japanese driver Souta Arao tried several overtaking manoeuvres, but Barter remained unaffected! The 2021 French vice-champion even managed to gain an advantage over Arao, who preferred to give way in order to save his tyre capital for the rest of the meeting.
Vayron won his place on the third step of the podium, not without having to watch Provost and Geraci sticking to his tail. Behind Giusti, consistent in 6th place, the Japanese driver Yuto Nomura moved up to 7th place ahead of Enzo Peugeot, both drivers having managed to get the best of the Belgian Lorens Lecertua and Switzerland’s Dario Cabanelas. Edgar Pierre completed the first top 10 of the season, between these two.
