The weather is warm and sunny in Sarno for the qualifying runs of the 4th and final round of the 2017 WSK Super Master Series. The track has been modified since the last international race: more rolling, shorter at 1547m, so we will not be able to compare the times from this year with the archives. The track was still greasy in the early morning so that the lap times from the two free sessions do not provide reliable indications of the hierarchy.
Chris Lulham (Tony Kart / Parilla) clocked the fastest time of the first OK-Junior timed session in the last lap, being the only driver to go under a minute: 59”947. Leonardo Marseglia (Zanardi / Parilla) joined him in 2nd place ahead of Harry Thompson, Jonny Edgar (Exprit / TM) and Luca Bosco (Tony Kart / Vortex). Jules Mettetal (Kosmic / Parilla) took 25th position at six tenths of the pole, although he did not know the track and was overwhelmed in free practice.
Conditions seemed to improve slightly for the 2nd session. Several drivers qualified in less than a minute at the end of the session and Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart / Vortex) finished on pole on 59”852 ahead of Andrea Rosso (Tony Kart / Vortex) and O’Neill Muth (Zanardi / Parilla). Hadrian David (Zanardi / Parilla) posted the 11th fastest time, Evann Mallet (Exprit / TM) 13th, Loris Cabirou (Sodi / TM), held up on his fast lap 21st, while Gillian Henrion (CRG / Parilla) will have to start from the bottom of the standings.
