The scenario was reversed for the the young American hopeful Devlin DeFrancesco during the second round of the WSK Euro Series in Spain long and fast Zuera circuit. Powered by a BMB engine this time, his CRG allowed him to up the pace throughout the race to finish 13th in a very interesting position in the final. He got through the pitfalls of the qualification heats without error to give his best in the finals, a sign of good progress in his racecraft.
In terms of performance, Devlin had very good speed throughout the Spanish event on a unique track that showcases high speeds, with the average lap being nearly 100 km / h. He was often within about 2/10 of the fastest times, a small gap on a track that is 1700 m long, and the slipstream phenomena is important at Zuera. A small amount off in timed practice, Devlin had to take his place in the qualifying heats, and succeeded perfectly until the last heat where he couldn’t start. This put him down in 32nd position in the intermediate classification.
He finished better in the Prefinal, reaching his goal by qualifying in 11th and then made a great comeback in the final. Starting 21st, he was fast gaining ground until eighth place, but fell back to 13th in a fight and retained this position to the finish, running 5/10 off the fastest time. The Spanish experience ultimately proved very positive, especially as he was racing on a very fast track similar to Sarno in Italy, which is coming up soon.
