At the World Cup for KF3, the young Belgian driver Max Defourny demonstrated his great speed. However, the final result cannot be considered really satisfactory, with only a 5th place in Final B. He is fast, no doubt about it: 20th in timed qualifying out of 90 drivers, he had the potential to do even better, for example if he had been less hampered. His starts in the qualifying heats were not easy, and as a consequence he was too often involved in tangles in the pack; in addition to that, he could not regain positions due to a ”slow” procedure, i.e. the safety car equivalent in karting, up to the finish line.
But despite all this, he was at his best in the third race. After a good start in the wake of the leaders, he set the second fastest time in the heat and ended 4th, coming very close to qualifying. Max really outclassed the rest of the drivers in Final B and his ascent to 5th place could have continued if he had not lost so much time in some overtaking manoeuvres.
