Davide Forè conquered the pole on Saturday, but it was Jonathan Thonon who ended Sunday in beauty by gaining the WSK KZ2 final.
Forè’s performance almost made forget Thonon’s presence on the fast Salbris track. The Belgian driver lost ground due to a minor technical problem in timed practice. Then he had to fight in anonymity in the packs, though he always set the best lap in race, before seeing the light again in the final phases.
Second in the pre-final, Jonathan found himself in the ideal position for the last race, where his favourite scenario materialised: to take the lead from the very first lap and increase the advantage over his rivals until the chequered flag. Mission fully accomplished thanks to his unbeatable CRG/Maxter kart. Forè could have completed CRG‘s triumph but he was involved in a collision.
Given CRG Team performances, we are impatient to see what the Blacks can do on the Sarno track, at the World Cup for KZ1 in September.
