Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) made a perfect start ahead of Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla) and Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) for the KZ2 final. Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) was in fourth position ahead of Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla), Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) and Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla). De Conto was the first to open hostilities in the leading group taking Thonon on lap 4. He followed this with an attack on Camponechi which put him in 4th position.
At the halfway point, the train continued on the twisty Castelletto circuit. Ardigo led by 5 tenths ahead of Lammers, followed by 6/10 by Kozlinki. De Conto again enlivened it by passing Kozlinski on lap 11. Lammers set the fastest time on the next lap and closed up to the leader. Ardigo didn’t let him surprise him and stepped on the gas. In 7th position, Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) reeled in Dreezen and passed on lap 17. The Englishman was then able to threaten Camponeschi which he did on the final lap, despite resistance from the Italian. Ardigo won ahead of Lammers, then De Conto in 3rd, Kozlinski 4th, Hanley 5th, Dreezen 6th and Camponeschi 7th.
