Going off the track and suffering an accident during practice, spending the night in hospital and going back to the circuit to win a race is definitely something out of the ordinary, except, perhaps, for superheroes. After her recent feats in her homeland, Beitske Visser deserves her “Wonder Woman” nickname more than ever.
Straight Off the Track at Over 100 km/h
No, Beitske did not perform a crash test during practice, at the second round of the Formel ADAC Masters. Without rear brakes at the approach to the chicane and with the front wheels locked up, she rammed into the protections at over 100 km/h.
Transfer to Hospital
Hit in the back, the Lotus Team driver underwent medical examinations, not being able to compete in the first race: this is not the kind of situation that Beitske likes. Despite persistent pain, she decided to compete in Race 2. It was not something very pleasant for her, of course, but she concluded with a respectable 8th place finish.
Race 3: Simply Victory!
Thanks to reversed starting grid for the first 8 drivers, Beitske started in pole position, caught the leader at the start of the race and won with a comfortable lead.
Bottom line: talent, combined with a strong character and solid motivation, led to the first victory for a female driver at the Formel ADAC Masters. Congratulations to Beitske!
