Leo Roussel received a penalty of 2 seconds for going too fast on the start line in Race 1. We expected a fight between Karol Basz, Libor Toman, Ignazio D’Agosto and Sébastien Bailly as much as the domination of Nyck De Vries.
But De Vries was seventh on the first of 21 laps. The race was led by Toman, Basz, D’Agosto, Bailly, Camponeschi and Lock.
T3: Basz in the lead. Bailly attacked Toman, they crashed, dropping Bailly to 7th, and Toman and Camponeschi to the back of the pack…
T5: Basz first, D’Agosto 2nd … De Vries was 3rd, although the machine still had some in reserve. Soon De Vries was second.
T6: Roussel 5th, Baron 6th. Bailly 12th.
T7: Basz turned around to see if his opponent was closer. Too late, De Vries had already taken the lead.
T8: Lock passed Basz. De Vries got away and no one was surprised. (+0.7”In one lap)
T9: first fastest lap for De Vries in this race …
T11: D’Agosto attacked Lock for 2nd place. In 4th Basz followed two Tony Karts.
T14: Roussel was making progress and was in the wheel tracks of Groman, in 5th. A new duel was in sight.
T15: Basz took over third position from Lock.
T16: Bailly was back behind eighth placed Réguillon.
T17: Basz and D’Agosto were 2nd and 3rd from Lock.
T18: De Vries was not pushing, but set the best lap and was 5 seconds ahead of second.
T19: D’Agosto had not finished his battle. Bailly passed Réguillon.
T20: D’Agosto was second again, Lock 3rd.
T21: There was a new battle between Roussel and Groman. Roussel claimed 5th place.
It was an identical victory for the Dutchman Nyck De Vries, a great driver, strategist and 200% confident in his team. Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 2nd place, Chris Lock (Tony Kart / Vortex) 3rd ahead of Karol Basz (RK / BMB) in 4th.
