After his very convincing performances at the beginning of the year, Max Defourny arrived in excellent shape at Alcaniz, for the first of the two 2013 European KF-Junior Championship rounds. In timed qualifying, his Kosmic kart powered by a TM engine prepared by Fred Dettings, GKS engine mechanic, enabled him to get very close to the top with a 7th time. Qualifying heats confirmed his potential: Max made no mistakes and concluded with an excellent result, a 6th place, which enabled him to start his pre-final in third position.
Max, who is always very competitive, moved to the attack to take second place, but was bumped into by another driver; he lost a few places but also his victory chances because of his damaged stirring system. After his promising results, this negative turn of events was very disappointing: Max crossed the finish line 23rd, and did not qualify for the final race. On the one hand, the mechanism adopted by these competitions is very cruel and, on the other hand, the KF-Junior class would deserve closer attention and sanctions to eliminate bad behaviour on track.
But despite these difficulties, Max will certainly keep giving the best of him and will fight to conquer the victory he definitely deserves, considering the progress he has shown.
