On Sunday, all Sodi drivers won at the Ostricourt GPO: with 3 pre-finals and 3 finals in its pocket, SRT literally dominated the scene in the three categories of the French Championship.
While Anthony Abbasse was slowed down by a series of different problems (mechanical problems and collisions), it was Pierre Ragues who took the torch in KZ2 by simply winning all the races of the meeting, regardless of whether the track was dry or soaking wet. After one of the epic catch-up of which he holds the secret, Abbasse remains the undisputed leader and great favourite of the race for the title, followed suit by his team mate.
Pierre Gasly came close to achieving a feat in KF3: after a third place on Saturday, he also monopolised victories despite very difficult track conditions. Charles Leclerc was fast, but could not achieve the results he aimed at, while Léo Roussel conquered two 3rd places on Sunday. With Gasly ideally placed in the Championship, Sodi has 3 drivers in the top 4 of the standings.
Finally, Alex Baron showed a textbook performance on Sunday. Poleman in timed qualifying, winner of the pre-final and of the final, he demonstrated the extent of his skills and Sodi’s level of performance in KF2, and is also back in the race to the international title.
«Who would not be satisfied with a GPO like this?», commented Nicola De Cola, the team manager. «It is not just a matter of results: I am mostly pleased with all the work we have accomplished. These victories did not come by chance; the whole team made a lot of efforts to get this far. I am fed up with some of the comments I heard in the paddock. Sodi wins because its equipment is good and everybody works hard. This is our only secret, full stop. End of discussion».
